One Moorgate Place in recent years has gone through an extensive refurbishment, and one of our biggest undertakings was the Grade II listed brutalist Great Hall. Listed for its exposed ceilings and blank canvas appeal it had always taken a bit of imagination for event bookers to see its potential. Our main aim was to retain its blank canvas charm but to give it all of the latest mod cons and soften its harsh exterior.
After months of preparation on 25 January we were ready to show it off! We were entertained by The Function Band who whipped up the crowd by standing on the bar and dancing throughout the space. We had two live food stations one heralding British classics (the live carved roast beef went down particularly well!) and the other featured a sushi style conveyor belt serving Nordic classics to our guests. Let’s not forget dessert! We had liquid nitrogen ice cream available in a number of flavours and toppings. But arguably the most popular station was the cocktail bar serving margaritas, Pina coladas and dry martinis.
We have never seen the Great Hall look like this before. We were completely wowed by how the space was completely transformed from a functional space to a twinkly mood lit venue teeming with people. We can’t wait to share our photos with you but if you can’t wait that long why not check out our twitter moment?
